Our Commercial Trailer Repair Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of trailers used in commercial transportation and logistics. This role involves diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing repairs, replacing parts, and conducting routine maintenance to ensure trailers are safe and roadworthy. Technicians also often perform welding, fabrication, and preventative maintenance, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnosis and Repair: Identifying and resolving mechanical and electrical problems with trailers, including brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
- Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance tasks such as tire rotations, brake inspections, and other preventative measures.
- Part Replacement: Replacing damaged or worn-out parts, including brakes, tires, suspension components, and more.
- Welding and Fabrication: Performing welding and fabrication work as needed for trailer repairs. Patching holes, replacing roofs and side panels, corner caps, and otherwise making a trailer water tight.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring trailers meet all relevant safety regulations and standards.
- Documentation: Maintaining accurate records of all repairs, maintenance, and inspections performed.
- Communication: Communicating with customers or supervisors regarding repair needs, progress, and completion.
- Tools and Equipment: Utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and other specialized tools to perform repairs.
- Safety Procedures: Adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems found in commercial trailers.
- Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems with trailer systems.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices for trailer repair.
- Welding and Fabrication: Experience with welding and fabrication techniques is often required.
- Knowledge of Safety Regulations: Understanding of safety regulations and procedures related to trailer maintenance and repair.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and working in various positions.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members both verbally and in writing.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze problems, develop solutions, and implement repairs.
- Detail-Oriented: Accuracy and attention to detail are important for thorough inspections and repairs.
